What’s the Future of Packaging?

Whatever the product range, one thing that all manufacturers and retailers have in common is the need to use sustainable packaging. Packaging waste is having a destructive effect on our planet, threatening essential natural habitats, so a rapid shift towards sustainability is essential and that requires innovation and collaboration.

Why Rethink Packaging?

Three primary reasons are driving the move towards sustainable packaging:

  1. Consumers favour brands that are actively minimising their environmental impact, so change is the only way to remain relevant and competitive in the market.
  2. Our planet is becoming clogged with packaging waste and the current practices of shipping waste around the globe simply shift the problem.
  3. The introduction of the Plastic Tax and the drive towards Net Zero means that sustainable solutions are an essential element in financial management.

From start-ups to established global corporations, the wide-scale adoption of sustainable packaging is now a necessity, not a choice. We need to be using trusted packaging materials, such as corrugated cardboard, in new ways, whilst discovering and adopting new packaging solutions.

Recycle…Reimagine: The Future of Packaging

With innovation and collaboration in mind, an online forum will be held on Thursday 1 December from 8.30 until 10am. This will include representatives from WWF UK, WRAP and Behaviour Change, along with CCEP, Coca Cola, McDonalds and M&S. The focus will be on viable packaging solutions that every manufacturer, retailer and consumer can engage with.

The discussion will cover:

  • What is and isn’t working with current packaging solutions?
  • Reusable & refillable packaging innovations
  • How to support the retail industry with the adoption of new packaging solutions
  • What is required to move to a circular economy
