The British Chamber Awards
Led by the Chamber of Commerce, these annual awards recognise excellence in British business. With regional finals, feeding into the national event, the standard of entries is high. With categories including ‘Rapid Riser’, ‘Problem Solver’ and ‘Planet Saver, there is scope for any business to enter.
This year, a packaging firm from Cornwall saw success in the regional stages. They went on to win the ‘Game Changer’ award, as well as being recognised as the 2023 ‘Winner of Winners’. What an achievement for Flexi-Hex!
Introducing Flexi-Hex
Flexi-Hex was launched in 2018 in response to one of the founders being shocked by a delivery. To protect his new surfboard during transit, the product had been encased in a considerable quantity of plastic bubble wrap. Aware of the issue of plastic pollution, he decided there had to be a better alternative.
Flexi-Hex is paper-based packaging. Which is formed into a honeycomb structure. The design provides remarkable protection, yet is widely recycled and biodegradable. The effectiveness of this paper packaging has been trialled with some extreme drop tests. This includes giving the local rugby team a wrapped Easter Egg to play with and drop tests off local cliffs.
