Sustainable Student Action
The university term is well underway and we’re keen to promote a new City to Sea initiative that could help turn your campus green.
The Refill Campus Award aims to:
– Promote viable alternatives to single-use plastic
– Encourage the introduction of refill options
– Reduce plastic waste
So, is there a way that your university could be engaged in making positive change? Could they be convinced to switch to sustainable options? It’s time to put your negotiation and debating skills to the test!
Universities Going Green
Bournemouth University was the first to achieve the Refill Campus Award. Their actions include installing 45 water stations. Surrounded by bold and bright wall art, these are clearly visible. They’ve also set up a returnable cup scheme. Not only does this action minimise single-use plastic bottles, but it also saves students money – perfect!
Other universities working towards the accreditations include Swansea, Cardiff, Glyndwr and the London School of Economics. Could you work with your student union and estates team to add yours to the refill list?
