Are you Using the Latest Version of your E-commerce Platform?

Is Magento your chosen e-commerce platform? If so, the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) has warned of a vulnerability.

This established e-commerce platform is popular with online retailers, but, as with all technology, updates of the latest versions have to be installed. The NCSC has identified 4,151 UK businesses using outdated versions of Magento. These are being targeted by cyber-criminals who undertake card skimming.

Card skimming enables customers personal and financial details to be replicated. As an online retailer, you have to protect customer data against such activity. Updating to the latest version will heighten data security.

In 2018, British Airways was fined £20m for failing to protect customers from a card skimming breach. That alone is an incentive to make platform upgrades a priority for your e-commerce business.
